WISCONSIN DISCOVERY PORTAL

The recently overhauled Wisconsin Discovery portal is the largest collection of UW-Madison researchers. You can search for specific researchers or look for recent research on a particular topic. This is one of the best ways to find topics that interest you and get the contact information of people currently doing research on such topics. It can be a difficult task to get into research but this resource is a great place to start!

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH SCHOLARS

The Undergraduate Research Scholars program is ideal for undergraduates early in their academic career (first or second year students) looking to get into research. This year-long program offers weekly seminars to its scholars covering all aspects of research including how to get into research, how to develop the creative mindset necessary for research, and how to build the communication skills of a researcher. This program pairs its members with research mentors in a wide array of research areas (humanities, social science, physical sciences, biological sciences, etc.). The program’s members take 1-3 credits of mentored research depending on how many hours per week they expect to work on their research projects. At the end of the spring semester, each member presents their research project at the Undergraduate Research Symposium.
